Training academy gives jobseekers the edge
Allara Learning and Townsville’s luxury resort and premier entertainment destination The Ville Resort-Casino have teamed up to deliver a new hospitality training academy in North Queensland.
The Ville Training Academy will provide local jobseekers with the practical skills and knowledge to succeed in the hospitality industry. Allara Learning worked closely with The Ville Resort-Casino to develop a tailored program that delivers training in the theory of working in food and beverage, as well as real-world experience across The Ville venues. The luxury resort and iconic entertainment destination has three prized restaurants, four bars and a casino, making it an ideal venue for trainees to gain valuable experience across a number of work environments.

The Ville Training Academy is a four-month program tailor-made to meet the needs of the industry’s most sought-after employers, working alongside hospitality’s best of the best and is a (nationally recognised qualification) Certificate 3 in Hospitality. It is a food and beverage specialised course that covers, food safety supervisor requirements, work health and safety, coaching other staff, communication in the workplace, customer service, bar skills, barista skills. The course also includes 36 work experience shifts.
The Ville Resort-Casino CEO Michael Jones said the program was targeted at jobseekers who are serious about building a long and successful career in hospitality.
“There are so many career pathways that you can pursue in the hospitality industry, so this program is about giving people a really solid foundation that they can build from into the future,” Michael said.
The program not only offers training in all the theory behind working in food and beverage, but it also includes invaluable real-world experience.
“Our trainees will be spending a lot of their training working across our many venues and putting their learning into practice,” Michael added. “That real-world experience is crucial to setting them up with the skills and confidence to really impress prospective employers after they’ve graduated. “The aim at the end of the program is to have a group of highly skilled graduates who we can either employ in our venues at The Ville or set them up with the best chance of getting a job elsewhere.”

Students have the privilege of being trained by a world champion mixologist (cocktail champion) who will deliver all the bar skills training and cocktails, which is quite unique to be trained by someone at that level in Australia.
