King’s Christmas The Last Show
Say farewell to the Kings in their massive final show!
Five-time Triple J Unearthed Chart Toppers King Social are stepping down from their throne as North Queensland’s favourite party band with a final hoorah this December at The Ville Resort-Casino.
The eclectic five-piece will play favourite tunes from their long reign as well as a few new songs, with their trademark fusion of hip hop, soul, rock and country.
“We’re really excited to be hosting King Social’s final show at The Ville,” says Marketing Manager Emily Roebuck.
“I know there are lots of fans out there who are keen to give the boys the send-off they deserve. They’re one of Townsville’s biggest music exports in the last few years so I think it’s going to be a great chance for everyone to celebrate everything they’ve achieved.
“The boys have performed here a number of times and they always put on such a great show and we’re sure this one is going to be no different.”
King Social’s Last Tour also includes stops in the Whitsundays, Byron Bay, the Gold Coast and Townsville before downing tools indefinitely. Front man Angus Milne said the shows included on the tour are the last King Social will do for the foreseeable future.
“We won’t rule out the chance of ever getting back together,” Angus offers, “but we’re all at a certain point where we have other priorities, or new creative ideas, and we’re excited to turn our attention to those things for a while.”
The band’s lead guitarist Jason Baillie is currently releasing a series of heavy metal tracks in collaboration with Megadeath’s Glen Drover, while Angus has been piecing together a solo show with a country-soul vibe.
“One of our defining features as a band has always been how diverse our individual musical influences are and it’s pretty exciting for us to have some time to follow our own interests and see where they lead,” says Angus.
“We’ve done multiple shows in each location on the tour over the years and have always had an awesome time in these places,” continues Angus. “It’s no coincidence that they’re all beach-side suburbs. We feel at home near the sea and sand, and people are always in the mood for a good dance.
“For King Social’s Last Tour, we want to deliver a show to remember – for punters and for ourselves.”
