A new era for The Ville

We took 15 minutes to speak to Cassandra Mendo from The Ville Resort-Casino to learn more about the opening of The Pavilion, Townsville’s premier conferences, events and weddings space and what it has to offer Townsville. Plus we find out what’s next for The Ville as they unveil more of their $40 million re-development.


What does the opening of The Pavilion mean for Townsville? 

The opening of The Pavilion at The Ville Resort-Casino will give Townsville another level of sophistication when it comes to conferences, weddings and events. With the best view in town and state-of-the-art facilities, The Pavilion will be a game changer for Townsville. It has been designed to attract state, national and international conferences to the city while giving local events a new space to play with.

How is this function space different to others in the local market? 

The Pavilion has been purpose built with the view as its best asset. It’s different from other facilities as it is attached to a resort and casino so the facilities are endless. The design breaks out into landscaped garden spaces and the spectacular pool precinct. We are investing heavily into the restaurants, bars and facilities to transform The Ville into a destination.

What types of events will be suited to The Pavilion? 

Weddings, conferences, parties and major events can all be accommodated. We are already in discussions with a few key local events for 2018 using The Pavilion. Everyone who has seen it so far, even though it’s still under construction, has been very impressed with the concept.

How does The Pavilion fit with the overarching vision of The Ville’s new development and identity? 

The Pavilion is one of the key pillars of the entire re-development as it not only doubles our capacity for conferences and events but it also showcases the new direction the property is heading, from an aesthetics and functionality point of view. It’s in a perfect location to take in the beautiful view that we are lucky enough to enjoy.

How will the redevelopment lift The Ville as a conference/wedding/event destination? 

The vision for the re-development was to give the property new life and give Townsville a venue to be proud of and one that can attract the domestic and international market to our beautiful city. To do that a property needs not just a state-of-the-art events venue but also surrounding facilities like world-class restaurants and bars, accommodation and entertainment to create a destination. The re-development will see us transform to offer all that and more to our guests.

What features will The Pavilion offer? 

Maximum 1200 capacity theatre/cocktail style and approximately 600 seated, the ability to break the space into three areas, as well as a wraparound terrace and lawn space available, state-of-the art AV, stylish and modern furniture, access to The Ville’s award-winning banquet menus and, best of all, views to die for across the Coral Sea to Magnetic Island.

What will guests be able to expect from the look of the venue? 

The renders are very close to the finished product however some changes have had to be made which is to be expected from a building project of this size. The look and feel of the venue has been structured around the views and surroundings and the overall vision for the rest of the property. Guests can expect a neutral colour palette with a Hamptons vibe.
